Budweiser for the first time

Today i had my Machine Drawing end semester exam which had to start at 1.30pm. The day was just like any other day except that we had an exam at 1.30pm. I was kind of confident in this subject and i did not study much. The exam was good and it was the first time that i completed my drawing in 4 hrs. Every other time it used to take much more than the allotted time of 4.5 hrs. After the exam i had snacks with Mehul in the canteen.. (Cheese Grilled sandwiches).. and then i set off for my IEEE meeting which had TW2010 as the agenda. The meeting was to start at 5pm and might have started at the right time… My exam had got over at 5.45pm after the snacks it was 6.15pm. So obviously, i was late for the meeting. It did not matter much though. The posts for the TW10 were decided. The Meeting was over by 7.15pm and me, PVL and Shreya walked back to the hostels. On the way i called Tushar (Mishra) and we decided that we would be having dinner outside coz the food was not that good on Saturdays.

So Me, Tarun (Nekkanti) & Tushar set off for Guzzlers. On the way we realised that Tarun had forgotten his wallet & i had only Rs.100 in mine. So we decided to withdraw some cash from the ATM. The SBI ATM on KC was junked so we walked to the college where we found out that even the ICICI ATM was not working. Luckily the SBI ATM there was working and so Tushar withdrawed some cash and we set off for the dinner. We reached there at 20.55hrs and was amazed to see that the place was entirely full. We walked inside the A/C area only to find that everyone over there were still having their starters. And by our past experience at that place we knew it would easily take an hour to get ourselves the seats. At around 2135 we were finally seated.

We ordered ourselves Indian food with a pint of Budweiser each for Tushar and myself. Tarun preferred not to take anything while we drank. We ordered some starters so that we could all have something to eat while we waited for the dinner. Our Beer was served almost instantly. We had it slowly and steadily and amazingly even the dinner was served well in time. Just when the waited started setting the cutlery we still had 1/2 pint remaining coz we never thought the dinner would come so well in time. So to start of the dinner, we immediately drank up the remaining beer. All was cool for some time. After about 5 mins. Tushar started acting weird. He was all smiling and remarked that he had finally realised the reason for hype of beer in the US and UK. He told us that he had started to feel totally relaxed and that he was feeling his head to be very light. He asked me if i was feeling the same. I was happy that i was not feeling that way. i did not want to get drunk by just 1 pint of beer even though it was the first time that i was having the full 1 pint by myself. Earlier i had only a couple of sips of Carlsberg, Kingfisher Blue. And i also had a 30ml Green Apple Vodka with sprite sometime back. So it was the first time i was having that much beer and i did not want to feel drunk by that much. The reason we were drinking that day was that a few days back my friend Mahesh (Pai) had shared his experience of Budweiser and had told that it was sweet and mild. When i had told Tushar about this, he had agreed to give another chance to beer coz he had never liked it before. For that reason we had zeroed in on Guzzlers for the dinner. So back at the dinner, Tushar was acting weird and was constantly repeating that he was feeling very nice and light. Listening to all that me and Tarun could not stop laughing coz we all considered Budweiser to a mild beer ( it wasn’t sweet!!). Tushar was very known to create situations to fool the people around him and we thought that he was acting in that way just to make fun. But probably he was getting drunk. This was confirmed when he told me that he is very normal right now but would definitely be in the drunken state if he had 1 more pint of it. And next he asked me if i wanted to share a pint of fosters with him. This made me believe that he had definitely lost his mind. He tried calling the waiter to bring him the fosters but we stopped him reminding him of the amount the food and beer had costed us already. So he finally agreed and started of with his new weird act. He started touching his nose and exclaimed that his nose was made of feathers and he could feel feathers on his nose. We was acting really funny and i was pretty surprised to see him in that state. i was not expecting him to reach that state in just 1 pint of beer. But this told me that the next day he would definitely decide not to have beer again. So finally got over with the dinner which was so spicy that Tarun could not not eat it and even Tushar was able to have it only be drinking loads of water. All the way back Tushar kept mentioning the light but balanced state he was in. I just kept making fun of him and he fell asleep just as we reached our rooms. lolz. I was extremely amazed that the 1 pint of Budweiser had made Tushar’s head light but i was completely sound from all this.

 

IEEE Technical Head – Mechanical

The day kicked off as a usual day with me getting up a bit late (8.15am… class had to start at 9). I have become quite used to all this now. Getting up 45 minutes before the class was actually quite good as compared to the days before. So i got ready well in time and reached the college. Attended the last Thermo class of the semester, second last class of M.Design. A boring lecture of DOM. DOM is a very interesting subject and i have got my best internals in the same subject ( 49 ). But the topic was quite boring and i was not doing anything except merely copying the solution of the problems done in the class. When back from the college, i had the usual kind of lunch at the AKSHAYA MESS. After that headed back to the room. Took CRIMSON SKIES ( a fighter aircraft kind of game which i am yet to play) from Devraj. Just transferred it to my laptop and then set off to clean the huge load of undergarments… I also had my CAD lab end-sem from 3.30pm for which i never felt like studying. But coz it was the end-sem, i looked over a few commands and went for the exam. While i was heading to the hostel gate, i met Ashish and coz there was no one else with him, he gave me a ride to the college. This saved me that sweaty walk to the college at 3pm. . When i reached the CAD lab, the previous batch were still doing their exam and this made us all wonder about the difficulty of the exam we had ahead of us. The first to come out was Mehul (Roll#101). We asked him about the test. He said it was easy though he did not complete it. More and more people came out of the lab and all had the same experience – Easy but could not complete. The only one who could complete was Anirudh Raut (Mech Topper). Ya, he always does it. K. So this was getting difficult. Only 1 guy finishing the question and that too at the last moment wasn’t very encouraging. But yes, it kind of prepared me for the test. As soon as we entered the lab and when we were assigned our computers, we immediately ran the customary check on the software to be sure if it was working fine. Mine was working fine, but the mouse was a pretty old one and was a bit bulky one, so i wasn’t very comfortable with it. But i decided to go on with it. I had the question in my hand. And the question seemed a bit difficult. But it was so only for a few moments. 10 mins later, i was done with the top view, another 10 mins and i was done with the front view and a few minutes later, the side view was done. i made some minor adjustments to the drawing, labelled it and called out for evaluation. i guess everyone in the room was shocked to know that i had completed the drawing in 30 mins straight of the allotted 90 mins. i was surprised myself, but this was something good. So i just checked my drawing internal marks. And thus i got to know that i had secured the full 10 marks for this test. . So Mr. Vijay. G.S. told me my internals (63.42/70) which were not very good ( as compared to the previous years… coz i had got 50/50 in the 1st semester and 59/60 in the 3rd semester. And each of those times i had got an A+ in the subject…). This time the chances of A+ looked bleak. . Well whatever… IEEE has its GBM (organised by us) at 5pm and i felt i might be asked to speak, so i was gathering some points to speak in case i was called to the dais. So i talked to Mr. Kamath and got a list of software installed in the lab which might be of good use. I set off for the LA (Library Auditorium) but i met Raka (Anirudh Raut) and Manan on the way so instead of reaching the LA, we ended up in the Canteen eating Grilled cheese sandwiches and having my second glass of Cold coffee for the day. And coz it was already over 5pm, i decided to finally go off for the GBM. When i reached i was quite surprised that it was going to start soon. And it did! The GBM took off at around 5.15pm and we were over with the major part of talking by 5.30pm (which also comprised of the announcement of the new board.)

As Rahul NS announced the exe-com board, i was bit shaken when he announced my name in the Logistics team to be headed by Prasanna. i thought that the seniors had slashed the idea of mechanical society coz of my failure to submit the report in time. But soon after Rahul NS also announced that IEEE was diversifying by introducing the Mechanical Society to be headed by me. That sounded nice. Really. I stood up once again for everyone to see that it was me who would be leading it…

Soon they began with the distribution of the certificates. Grabbing the opportunity, even i reached out for my certificates. Though i discovered something strange. I had also got a TESARACT tech talk certificate even though i had not attended any of its lectures. . Next i collected the IEEE membership cards for digvijay, devraj and myself, also a few free to take Spectrums and also the ones issued to digvijay and devraj. Took them off and then left the LA with Sean (The GBM was wrapped up by then). Sean was grateful enough to give me a ride to KC ( Kamath Circle). After which i walked back to the hostel. On the way i met Jayant and Srestang (Mech 1st years) who congratulated me and asked for some guidance on the Mechanical branch. Briefed them a bit and then i went back to the hostel. Gave Devraj his stuff. And headed for Dinner in the mess with Tushar Mishra. It was Tuesday and thus we had CHHOLE-POORi in the dinner… Had the dinner, then bought 4 bananas (Rs.10) and then headed back to the room. Had been quite a nice day and did not have college for the next 4 days. (2 days for election duty and May1- May Day). Plus it was Barca-Chelsea 1st Leg of Champions League that night (at around 1am)… So just felt like putting it down here… and here it is… Looking for more good moments ( might be boring for the reader )
